1) Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and
CoursesToCards (“we,” “us,” or “our”)
governing your access to and use of our websites, apps, and services (collectively, the “Service”).
By creating an account, purchasing credits, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our
Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2) The Service
CoursesToCards helps you generate study flashcards from your study materials (for example: lecture slide decks, typed notes, and PDFs),
and provides exports formatted for import into Anki.
- No textbook access: We do not sell textbooks or provide access to copyrighted books.
- No DRM bypass: The Service does not decrypt, circumvent access controls, bypass DRM, or extract protected files from third-party platforms.
- Screen-level workflow: Some features operate on what is visible on your desktop screen. If a platform blocks capture, the Service may not work with that platform.
3) Eligibility & Accounts
- Age: You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to use the Service.
- Account security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and all activity under your account.
- Accurate information: You agree to provide accurate account and billing information and to keep it updated.
4) Credits, Billing & Payments
The Service is typically purchased using prepaid credits (often called “Pages” or “Credits”).
A “standard page” is a normalized unit of study content processed for flashcard generation, as described in the Service UI and documentation.
- Up-front cost: Before processing an upload, we present the page/credit cost. You must approve before processing begins.
- Pricing changes: Prices may change prospectively. Current pricing will be displayed in the Service or on our website.
- Taxes: You are responsible for any applicable taxes unless required otherwise by law.
- Payment processors: Payments may be handled by third-party processors; their terms may apply.
Refunds: Because processing consumes compute resources, credits are generally non-refundable once used.
If the Service materially fails to deliver due to our error, we may (at our option) reprocess, credit your account, or refund the affected portion.
5) Your Content & Outputs
“User Content” means documents, images, screenshots, text, and other materials you submit to the Service.
“Outputs” means flashcards and exports generated by the Service based on User Content.
- You are responsible: You represent and warrant that you have legitimate access to and permission to use your User Content with the Service for personal study.
- No redistribution license: Using the Service does not grant you any rights to redistribute third-party materials or violate third-party terms or laws.
- Review required: Outputs may contain errors; you are responsible for reviewing and deciding how to use them.
6) License to Process
You grant CoursesToCards a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, copy, process, transform, and transmit your User Content
only as necessary to provide and secure the Service (for example: generate Outputs, deliver downloads, prevent abuse, and maintain reliability).
You retain ownership of your User Content. We do not claim ownership of your User Content or Outputs.
7) Content Handling & Privacy
We are designed to delete uploaded User Content and generated Outputs after processing and delivery, subject to short-term operational needs
(for example: queues, retries, and temporary caching).
Even if we delete User Content/Outputs, we may retain limited non-content data such as account information, credit balances and purchase history,
security/anti-abuse signals (including non-reversible fingerprints/hashes), and compliance logs (notice/complaint and enforcement records).
See our Privacy Policy for details.
8) Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate rights or law: upload or process content you do not have legitimate access to; infringe copyright, trademark, or other rights.
- Bypass restrictions: circumvent security features, access controls, DRM, rate limits, or technical limitations.
- Academic dishonesty: generate or distribute answer keys or content intended to facilitate cheating or policy violations.
- Abuse the Service: use bots/scrapers outside our approved interfaces; overload, probe, or attack the Service.
- Malware or harmful activity: transmit malware, exploit vulnerabilities, or disrupt other users.
- Unauthorized resale: sell, sublicense, or operate a service bureau based on the Service without written permission.
Enforcement: We may use anti-abuse signals (including fingerprints/hashes) and operational logs to enforce these rules and protect the Service.
9) Copyright/DMCA & Repeat Infringers
If you believe that content processed through the Service infringes your copyright, please submit a notice under our
Copyright/DMCA Policy.
- Repeat infringer policy: We maintain and reasonably implement a policy to terminate accounts of repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances.
- Response: We may remove or disable access where applicable, block future processing, suspend or terminate accounts, and retain compliance records as needed.
10) Suspension & Termination
- By you: You may stop using the Service at any time.
- By us: We may suspend or terminate access immediately if we believe you violated these Terms, the Acceptable Use rules, or applicable law, or if needed to protect the Service or third parties.
- Effect: Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. In cases of fraud, abuse, or policy violations, unused credits may be forfeited where permitted by law.
11) Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES,
EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of Outputs, or any exam or learning outcomes.
You are responsible for reviewing Outputs before using them.
12) Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, COURSESTOCARDS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL,
CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF:
(A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 3 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) $100.
13) Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CoursesToCards and its members, managers, employees, and contractors from any claims,
damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to:
- your User Content;
- your use of the Service;
- your violation of these Terms; or
- your violation of any law or third-party rights.
14) Dispute Resolution
Governing Law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina,
without regard to conflict of laws rules.
Venue. Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms
or the Service that is not resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in
North Carolina, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of those courts.
Informal Resolution First. Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at
support@coursestocards.com and try in good faith to resolve
the dispute informally.
15) Miscellaneous
- Changes: We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
- Severability: If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
- Assignment: You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.
- Entire Agreement: These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Copyright/DMCA Policy are the entire agreement regarding the Service.
